Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has approved an additional 26 sites for housing construction as part of the Moscow renovation program. This was reported in a statement by the Moscow Department of Urban Development Policy.

According to the head of the Moscow Department of Urban Development Policy, Sergei Levkin, the officially approved list now includes 236 sites. "The urban development potential of the additionally included construction sites is 641,100 sq. m," the head of the department, Sergei Levkin, is quoted as saying in the materials.

"The urban development potential of additionally included construction sites is 641,100 sq. m. Most of them - seven [sites] - will appear in the Southern Administrative District, six were found in the North-Eastern Administrative District, four - in the Eastern, and four more - in the South-Eastern. The list will increase by two sites in each of the districts: Western and North-Western. One additional site has been selected in TiNAO," noted Levkin, whose words are quoted in the department's report.

The capital's housing renovation program includes 5,175 buildings that are planned to be demolished, except for buildings of historical and architectural value. About a million residents should be resettled into new apartments by 2032 at the city's expense.
