The Australian city was going to celebrate the 150th anniversary, but confused the date

The authorities of the Australian Charleville (Queensland), in the preparation of the 150th anniversary of the city, unexpectedly discovered that they had been late for three years. Until recently, it was believed that the city was founded in 1868. However, when checking the documents, it turned out that this actually happened in 1865, BBC reports.

The unexpected opening was a real shock and great disappointment for the authorities, since next year they were preparing to arrange a wide celebration of this event.

According to local residents, although, of course, there are other things on which it is worth concentrating efforts, including improving the state of the economy, but such dates are also important to celebrate.

Now the city is developing alternative plans for festivities. According to the mayor of Charles Annie Liston, some celebration of the anniversary from the day of founding the city next year will still take place. Now the city hall decides in what form the event will be held.

Located in the southwestern part of Queensland Charleville is 683 kilometers west of the capital of Brisben. The city stands on the banks of the Warrego River. According to the 2011 census, 3728 people lived in Charles at that time.

There are several tourist attractions in the city, including the Historical Museum and the Reserve of Wildlife.
