A criminal case on abuse of power has been initiated against the owner and co-president of VIM-Avia Rashid Mursekaev, former CEO Alexander Kochnev, former financial director Alevtina Kalashnikova and chief accountant Ekaterina Panteleeva, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported .
According to the investigation, in 2015-2017, the airline's management, having abused its powers, purchased aviation fuel from companies controlled by Mursekayev at an inflated cost.
“In fact, the company was a fraudulent scheme in the form of a pyramid. Its leaders carefully concealed losses, indicating deliberately false information about profits in the financial statements. This made it possible to receive loans from banks, as well as to avoid restrictions from the Federal Air Transport Agency. In such conditions, knowing about the plight of the company, Mursekaev and his wife from May 2015 to September 2017 received more than 162 million rubles in the form of wages and dividends. At the same time, the company's losses by September of this year amounted to more than 2.5 billion rubles, ”the UK said.
The damage from the actions of the VIM-Avia company amounted to more than 782 million rubles. 4 companies were recognized as victims in a criminal case.
VIM-Avia stopped flights in September 2017 due to lack of funds. Rashid Mursekaev and Alevtina Kalashnikova left the territory of Russia, they are put on the international wanted list. Previously, a fraud case was opened against the company's executives.
