The Pechersky District Court of Kiev has refused the prosecutor's office to place Mikheil Saakashvili under house arrest, the 112 Ukraine TV channel reports . The next court hearing is scheduled for December 14.
“The petition of the prosecutors on the application of a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest to the suspect Saakashvili Mikhail should be dismissed. The decision can be appealed directly to the Court of Appeal within 5 days from the date of its announcement,” the judge’s decision says.
At the end of the trial, Saakashvili was released.
Saakashvili was detained on December 8. Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said on December 5 that protests organized by Saakashvili under the building of the Verkhovna Rada were financed by associates of former President Viktor Yanukovych. On the same day, the security forces came with a search to the politician's apartment, but he ran out onto the roof, from where he did not go down for several hours. After Saakashvili was removed from the roof and put on the SBU bus, from where a crowd of supporters released him .
