The US will not forget about Crimea
The United States will not lift sanctions on Russia until the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Despite the opinion of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the status of Crimea is yet to be discussed. This was stated by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson , speaking with a report on solving foreign policy problems.
“The Russian invasion of Ukraine is something that we cannot accept… This is the basis for the strictest sanctions that the US and Europe have imposed on Russia. The sanctions regime will not change until the territorial integrity of Ukraine is restored,” Tillerson said.
He noted that violence in the East of Ukraine continues, and in 2017 there were more civilian casualties than in 2016. “Russia must use its influence with the rebel forces it supports in eastern Ukraine to end this violence and bring us back to dialogue within the framework of the Minsk agreements,” the US Secretary of State said.
Tillerson also said that the United States will return to the issue of Crimea, despite the statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the status of the peninsula is not being discussed.
