On December 15, Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow found the former Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexei Ulyukaev guilty of receiving a bribe and sentenced to eight years a strict regime colony. The court also appointed Ulyukaev a fine of more than 130 million rubles and a ban on the occupation of state debts within 8 years after the departure of the deadline.

The court admitted that Ulyukaev received a bribe from the head of the Rosneft Group Igor Sechin for the approval of the transaction when buying it by Bashneft. According to investigators, Alexei Ulyukaev was transferred by the head of the oil company Igor Sechin himself in the Rosneft office. Ulyukaev supposedly gestured Sichin in the presence of the head of VTB Andrei Kostin during a visit to Goa that he wants “gratitude” for the approval of the transaction. Neither Kostin nor Sechin acted in court as witnesses, and if the head of VTB was not called, then the bailiffs with the agenda were sent four times to the sechin. At a press conference the day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the head of Rosneft “could have come to court”.

“As for Sechin and his failure to appear in court, if there is some kind of violation of the law here, the law must accordingly respond to this. But, as far as I imagine this, and I was certainly interested, because I saw the reaction of the public, the law is not violated here. And, as the investigation believes, the materials of Sechin himself are sufficiently collected. But I cannot disagree that Sechin could come to court-what is so and such? I could repeat what he set out during the preliminary investigation and interrogations, ”Putin said.

Instead of Sechin, his ally, General of the FSB Oleg Feoktistov, performed at the trial. At the time of the arrest of Ulyukaev, he headed the Rosneft security service. The general claimed that in the fall of last year, the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, told him about a bribe of $ 2 million, which Ulyukaev extracts him. After that, it was decided to put on a microphone on Sechin. The audio recording on which the ex-minister extorted or simply mentioned a bribe was never published.

The handcuffs in the courtroom put on Ulyukaev - before that he was under house arrest. The former minister came to the sentence with a light bag: the lawyers expected a conditional sentence, observers predicted a short term - up to 3 years with an amnesty after the inauguration in May 2018 or the so -called “Vasilyeva version”, when the former mistress of the Minister of Defense, accused of large -the -the -in -a -the thermal, appeared in the colony and immediately disappeared. However, expectations did not materialize. Speaking on December 7 with the last word, Ulyukaev said that he was a victim of a “monstrous and brutal provocation”.

“Imagine the situation. You have a familiar official who for some reason stopped you like. You invite him for a walk and say: “Please hold a briefcase, my lace has untied!” And you won’t have time to tie it, as good fellows from the bushes jump out, take the hands of this ex -friend under the whites and send it to the investigative insulator. There is no person - there is no problem. However, opening Pandora's box is easy, it will be much more difficult to close it, ”said Ulyukaev.
