Former Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexei Ulyukaev said he did not expect to be taken into custody before the sentence came into force. This was reported by a member of the PMC and a journalist of Moskovsky Komsomolets Eva Merkacheva, who visited him in the pre-trial detention center.
“I had no illusions about the unfair verdict. But I thought that before the appeal they would not change the measure of restraint. <...> I could have remained under house arrest, because in all the time I have never violated the conditions. I was sure that I would not be arrested, since this is not at all necessary, ”MK quoted him as saying.
According to Ulyukaev, because of this, he practically did not take any things with him to court. “I didn’t even take a toothbrush,” he said.
“Last night I got worried and my blood pressure went up. And now everything is fine. Tell my loved ones not to worry. No need to shed tears for me. This is just such an episode of my life. I will survive it,” said Ulyukaev.
