The final victory over the militants of the Islamic State terrorist group* in Syria will be achieved only by the end of February, said French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with local television. At the same time, the head of state complained that after the defeat of terrorists, the world community will have to communicate with the Syrian leader Bashar Assad.
"Bashar Assad is the enemy of the Syrian people, my enemy is IG*. Bashar Assad will remain there, including because he is protected by those who also defeated the terrain - be it Iran or Russia. So we cannot say that we do not want to talk with him or his representatives," Macron quoted TASS.
Note that Russia has already announced the victory over IG* in Syria. On December 6, the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces is the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Valery Gerasimov at an annual briefing for foreign military attache announced that Syria was completely exempted from terrorists, and all the gangs of the Islamic State* were destroyed in the country.

It should be noted that Russian statements in the West were considered premature and not too fair . In particular, the Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian expressed surprise that Russia "appropriated" to the terrorists, noting that we are talking about "a few unreasonable interpretation." “With a certain late, the Russian military came to the aid of Bashar al-Assad forces and ultimately achieved the liberation of Deir ez-Zor,” the minister outlined his vision.
