Taimyr: The authorities recognized the problem of the burial of the dead

At the press conference, the head of Taimyr Sergey Tkachenko confirmed that in the remote settlements of the district there is a problem with the burial of the dead. Moreover, it arose for a long time and exists not only in Taimyr, but also in other northern territories.

Taimyr’s authorities reacted on this subject after a number of publications in the publication "Siberia. Realities". Residents of Taimyr talked about a letter that sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request for help. The Taimyrs do not have the opportunity to deliver the deceased relatives to Dudinka or Norilsk, and there are forensics and pathologists only there. They do not fly on business trips to the hinterland, although before such a practice was. As a result, people either keep the dead in the sheds "until better times", or bury them themselves, without medical conclusion and relevant documents. So, formally, their relatives are listed alive, and it is impossible to receive either a allowance for burial, nor a pension in the loss of the breadwinner, or other payments laid down in such cases.

In addition, the bodies of the deceased, stored in fact on the street, become the prey of rodents. This is a moral trauma for relatives and a threat to human health: since it is not known what exactly the deceased person was ill.

As Sergey Tkachenko said at a press conference, in 2017, 44 people died in Taimyr’s villages, of which only 19 were taken to a forensic medical examination. "Unfortunately, we do not have a separate program for settlements that would be guaranteed to have financing for this work," Tkachenko said. According to him, this problem has repeatedly risen at meetings to the heads of territorial departments. The situation is greatly complicated by weather conditions, said the head of the peninsula.

At the same time, he said, "the first solution for the first time in many decades" was found with the help of the residents themselves. They proposed to introduce flight hours to transport the bodies of the deceased from villages to the place of pathological procedures during the flood, ice floor and in other difficult periods. The corresponding appeal was sent to the governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory this year. From January 1, 2018, the municipal district will be submitted for these purposes. The amount of about 10 million rubles is focused on statistics on the villages. Now we will be able to more quickly resolve the issue of transporting the bodies of the deceased for the forensic examination in villages and on long -term reindeer herring camps in the tundra, ” said Sergey Tkachenko.

The issue with special premises for the work of forensic experts, whose staff promised to increase, will also be resolved. In each village, the head of Taimyr said, modular installations for these purposes should be equipped. And if such attitudes appear, then the bodies of the deceased will not necessarily be taken out of the villages each time, in certain situations everything can be done on the ground.
