The company Magic Leap , which has been working on a secret project in the field of augmented reality for several years, has finally showed its first product - Magic Leap ONE augmented reality. Very little is still known about them, but at least something!

In October 2017, Magic Leap received an investment of $ 500 million; Prior to this, 1.3 billion, including Google, Alibaba and Qualcomm, have already been invested in it. At the same time, it was unclear for more than three years what the company has specifically working on. On the one hand, it was always a question of only augmented reality glasses, on the other hand, they should “turn the world over.”

And now Magic Leap showed the device itself - more precisely, its version for the “creators” (apparently, first of all, we are talking about developers who want to create applications and games for this platform). Magic Leap One is not so bulky as HoloLens or Oculus Rift virtual reality glasses, but they are noticeably larger than ordinary points.

The company claims that glasses are able to distinguish the surfaces and objects of the real world - "see what you see." Magic Leap One finds and remembers the location of walls, floor and other objects in the room, so that the user can “fix” the digital element in space - for example, “hang” a virtual TV on his wall.

Glasses are controlled by voice, gestures, the position of the head and even the direction of the look. The Rolling Stone journalist Brian Kresent, who was invited to the Magic Leap office and was allowed to try the device, says that one of the demo applications was a virtual woman who left the virtual door in the wall. She constantly looked the journalist in the eye - from this he even got a little nervous and looked away.

In another demo, the Crossman saw a four-sided TV hanging in the center of the room. Each of the screens on the TV showed his own channel.

The Magic Leap website has been listed for what you can use the device: games, Internet travel and online buying, displaying screens with information, virtual meetings with other people and creativity. Like Microsoft Hololens, Magic Leap One does not cover the entire field of vision of a person - virtual objects can only be displayed in the limited area before the eyes. The Krestye describes this area as a "VHS cassette that you hold in the face on half-pulled hands." According to the journalist, Magic Leap glasses are much larger than Hololens.

Magic Leap One connect to a small round computer, which can be attached to a pocket or hang on the shoulder. According to the founder of Magic Leap Roni Abovitsa, in terms of power this computer is commensurate with the MacBook Pro and gaming computers. Brian to the Crossman writes that he did not notice any problems with the performance of augmented reality glasses.

A small controller with buttons and a touch surface is also attached to the Magic Leap One. The glasses themselves, tells the Crossman, will be two sizes. Users will be able to configure them in the area of ​​the nose, forehead and temples, as well as adjust the image for poor vision. The developers say that at Magic Leap One you can work for hours. Rolling Stone journalist notes that they are really light.

Magic Leap promises to start sales of glasses for the "creators" in 2018. How much will they cost and when exactly will come out is unknown.
