The SBU reported the exposure of an agent of the Russian special services in the government secretariat

The Security Service of Ukraine announced the detention by counterintelligence officers of an official of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, who was recruited by Russian special services. The name and position of the detainee are not known. This was reported on the website of the department.

“Law enforcement officers have established that the official was recruited by the Russian special services during a long business trip abroad. Operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine documented that the official, on the instructions of Russian curators, collected information on the activities of government structures with the help of special equipment. The attacker transmitted the obtained data to the curators through electronic communication channels," the report says.

The department clarifies that the agent was detained at the workplace with the assistance of the leadership of the Ukrainian government. Currently, searches are underway at the place of work and residence of the official.

A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under the article on high treason (part 1 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Under this article, he faces imprisonment for up to 15 years.

According to him, "the information that this person may be engaged in illegal activities has been known for a long time." Yezhov reportedly accompanied Groysman "to all international meetings and on all trips", and previously worked at the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States, as well as in the Presidential Administration of Ukraine.
