"Vedomosti": Hackers via Swift stole $ 1 million from Globex Bank

According to Vedomosti, the cyberseches stole the amount equivalent to $ 1 million from Globex. President of the financial organization Valery Ovsyannikov confirmed: “There was an attempt to attack last week.” He also emphasized that "customer funds were not injured."

At the same time, the Rossvift has repeatedly indicated SWIFT to the maternal company that there are a risk of cyberatams due to the features of the system in Russia: here, unlike the whole world, SWIFT works through an intermediary, the company Alliance Factors. The latter has access to all the confidential information of users, including IP addresses and critical infrastructure. SWIFT has repeatedly postponed the deadline for refusing the Alliance Factors services; Now we are talking about the end of 2018.

The fact that hackers were able to successfully attack the Russian bank through Swift, Kommersant wrote on December 19. According to the publication, the attack occurred on December 15, and before that the Bank-victim was checking the Central Bank, and the regulator had a claim to the organization’s security system.

Prior to this, hackers in Russia did not use SWIFT for attacks, although in the world the system has already been used by cyber abusions. So, in February 2016, hackers through SWIFT stole $ 81 million from the accounts of the Central Bank Bangladesh in the US Federal Reserve.
