© Roskomnadzor Alexander ZharovRoskomnadzor informed social networks, which does not require them to block the accounts of organizations recognized as undesirable in Russia, but the materials of these organizations and information on how to gain access to them are to be removed.
About this today, December 21, told reporters the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov, Interfax reports.
“At the moment, we wrote to all existing social networks, we do not require them to block accounts, we demand to delete information,” Zharov said.
Social networks are not copies of the sites of undesirable organizations, he explained, “but it is obvious that they are used to propagate various methods, including bypassing blocking: they say how information located on such and such actions can be obtained.”
“This is exactly this information from social networks we demand to delete,” the head of Roskomnadzor emphasized. He also said that some social networks have already deleted unlawful information.
Last week, Roskomnadzor notified Twitter and YouTube about their possible blocking if they do not delete open Russia accounts, which was blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General (instead of the Open Russia website, a new online project has now opened ).
Roskomnadzor is obliged to block all sites of organizations recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation, Zharov noted. He added that all the media should clearly understand: “If they distribute materials from the sites of this organization, then we will demand from them to remove them.”
