Russia lost two more silver medals at Sochi 2014 - in luge

The International Olympic Committee has stripped Russia of two Sochi 2014 silver medals in luge: in the men's event and in the mixed relay. This happened due to the disqualification of Albert Demchenko and Tatyana Ivanova, who were convicted of doping.

In addition, skaters Ivan Skobrev and Artem Kuznetsov, skiers Nikita Kryukov, Alexander Bessmertnykh and Natalya Matveeva, bobsledders Lyudmila Udobkina and Maxim Belugin, and hockey players Tatyana Burina and Anna Shchukina were also disqualified. Their disqualification did not affect the medal result of the team.

• Taking into account the latest disqualifications, Russia has lost 13 medals, three of them are gold. In the unofficial team standings, the country dropped from first to third place.
• The IOC suspensions are related to the WADA anti-doping investigation based on the testimony of the former director of the Moscow Laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov. He spoke about the existence in Russia of a centralized system for doping and hiding positive samples.
• The same investigation led to Russia being banned from the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games. Russian athletes will go there under a neutral flag and will not be able to use Russian symbols and anthem.
