The case of activist Mark Galperin, who is accused of public calls for extremist actions, was transferred on December 21 to the Nagatinsky District Court of Moscow. The investigation into his case is over.
The activist is charged under Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activity made using the Internet) for a video from his interview on Red Square. The case was filed in 2016. Now Galperin is under house arrest.
Galperin is a civil activist, a regular participant in protest events, one of the leaders of the New Opposition. He was repeatedly detained and placed under administrative arrest. He also became the second person in Russia to be prosecuted for repeated violations of the procedure for holding public events (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code).
