The court in Bashkortostan reduced the fine to the activist for the medieval poem, but confirmed the guilt

On December 21, the Supreme Court of Bashkortostan reduced the fine to the public activist Sagit Ismagilov for “inciting ethnic growth” from 320 thousand to 100 thousand rubles. This was reported in the group of Ismagilov in VKontakte.

Ismagilov was accused of inciting the razor for recordings on the social network VKontakte. The Supreme Court of the Republic confirmed his guilt, although he reduced the amount of the fine.

In 2016, Ismailov reposted the text in the Bashkir language of the author under the nickname of Ishbuldy әbeәlilbash, as well as a photograph of a passage from the poem of the medieval Bulgarian poet Muhamedyar “Nura Sodur” (“The Light of Hearts”). The investigation decided that in these texts “the actions of the Tatars are characterized as aggressive, directed against the Bashkirs”, and “materials are unacceptable, in them there are signs of excitement of hatred of enmity on a national basis”.

“I regard the verdict and the whole criminal case against me, as a persecution for political reasons. This persecution began when on December 10, 2016 we held in Ufa the Congress of the Bashkir people, then the leaders of the Bashkort organization were detained and I took over the chairmanship at this congress. The very next day, a criminal case was opened against unidentified persons. In January of this year, I expressed support for the measures of the Open Russia movement. After that, the criminal case was forced against me. Therefore, it is obvious that the current sentence is an attempt by the authorities to remove me from active social activity, ”said Sagit Ismagilov.
