Alexey Navalny on Sunday evening submitted documents to the Central Election Commission for registration with a presidential candidate, Vedomosti reports .
“We attribute this (documents. - Ed.) And we say that it is impossible not to register us for elections. Elections without us are not an election,” the opposition said before entering the CEC. Navalny called the collected signatures of the initiative group for his nomination "documentary evidence of a huge political movement."
The reception of Navalny's documents in the Central Election Commission was only able to start at 20:00. As the press secretary of the politician Kira Yarmysh explained, in the tent, where the assembly of the initiative group took place, the printer broke down, and for printing documents I had to go to the office of the Corruption Fund. Around 20:45 the documents were handed over.
On Sunday, the beaten was extended for an indefinite period, although initially the acceptance of documents was supposed to last until 15:00. Simultaneously with Navalny, documents on the presidential election were submitted by businessman Sergei Polonsky, journalist Oleg Lurie and founder of the Moscow strip club Goldengirls Laki Lee.
According to Znak.com, a conflict with Polonsky had a conflict in Navalny’s building. The politician refused to shake Polonsky’s hand, after which he called Navalny a “lid”. The businessman said that he allegedly turned to Navalny for legal assistance and was refused.
The CEC must consider Navalny's documents within five days and announce a decision regarding his registration. In case of successful passage of this stage, Supporters of Navalny will be able to begin the collection of 300 thousand signatures necessary for his nomination. Earlier in the CEC they stated that they would not be allowed Navalny to the polls due to the presence of criminal records.
Sam the politician insists that the presence of conditional convictions in the case of Kirovles and the Postal Case does not prevent his nomination for elections. He indicates that part 3 of Article 32 of the Constitution deprives of suffrage - both active and passive - only persons who are in places of imprisonment, but not citizens serving conditional terms.
