The weekly magazine Profile will be included in the asset portfolio of the radio holding European Media Group (EMG), EMG CEO Roman Yemelyanov told Vedomosti, and two sources familiar with Rodionov confirmed. Rodionov himself declined to comment.

Rodionov founded the publishing house in 1999. The publishing house successfully developed for almost a decade: before the 2008 crisis, the publishing house was a notable player in the media market. It published 13 magazines, including Profile, Company, Career, FHM men's magazine, Krestyanka, Moulin Rouge, L'Optimum, etc. But subsequently, almost all of these publications were closed, with the exception of Profile, the publishing house's last magazine. According to the publishing house itself, the magazine's circulation is 74,000 copies, and it has about 30 employees. According to SPARK-Interfax, 50% of the parent company IDR-format belongs to Tovalia LLC, which is owned by several private individuals - Irina Chilikina, Marina Zhuganova, Zulfiya Tetruashvili. Vedomosti's sources did not disclose the amount of the deal.

In 2004, Sergei Rodionov sold half of the publishing house to the co-owners of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company ( UGMK ), Andrei Bokarev and Iskander Makhmudov. Now, according to SPARK-Interfax, 50% of the parent company belongs to Tetruashvili, and 50% to the Mozhaisk Printing Plant (MPK), which is controlled by Rodionov and his relatives. The publication's revenue in 2016 amounted to 84.3 million rubles, net loss - 2.1 million rubles.

Bokarev and Makhmudov themselves have repeatedly stated that they are ready to leave the publishing business; in 2016, the businessmen were ready to “donate” the shares of this publishing house, however, they never did so. On December 21, EMG became the owner of another company, IDR LLC, which was registered in September 2017 and was 100% owned by Rodionov.

The European Media Group, established in 2006, unites the radio stations Europe Plus, Dorognoe Radio, Retro FM, Radio 7 on Seven Hills, Sport FM, Radio for Friends, and this year the company's assets were expanded with the network of radio stations Novoe Radio. Currently, EMG is 100% owned by the co-owners of UMMC . In 2016, they agreed to purchase 74.99% of SDS Media Holding, the only shareholder of EMG at that time. The new owner of this package was the Melodiya company, controlled by the co-owners of UMMC: 60% belongs to Igor Kudryashkin, 30% to Andrei Kozitsyn, 10% to Andrei Bokarev. 25% remained with the president of the Siberian Business Union (SDS) holding, Mikhail Fedyaev. On July 7, 2017, he also left the share. A source for Vedomosti familiar with the details of the deal claims that the magazine was purchased in the interests of one of the co-owners of UGMK, Igor Kudryashkin.

EMG does not yet have a clear plan for the publication's development; various options are currently being worked out, but the magazine will definitely retain the format of a socio-political publication, Yemelyanov told Vedomosti. "Next year, we plan to develop the brand, primarily in digital, work on an online publication, and create a Telegram channel. We are focused on evolutionary, not revolutionary, changes," Yemelyanov says. The decision on whether the magazine will retain its printed version has not yet been made, but EMG intends to retain the staff of Profile, Yemelyanov says.

However, Rodionov himself has not given up on his plans to return to the Russian media business. At the end of October, he and media manager Vladimir Pomukchinsky (former top manager of Rodionov's publishing house and partner of Alexander Fedotov) made an offer to begin negotiations on buying the ACMG publishing house from him. But for now, the negotiations are still ongoing, Fedotov told Vedomosti.
