
The initiative group at a meeting in Moscow nominated Vladimir Putin as a candidate for the presidential election. It is reported by RBC. The event was held in the 57th Pavilion of VDNH, where the exhibition "Russia is my story" is usually held. All 668 gathered voted for Putin's nomination.
The candidate himself did not come. As explained by Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, his chief has a stressed work schedule. On Tuesday, Putin met with government members, and also talked with the children who were holding a round dance on the Kremlin Cathedral Square.
Among the speakers at the meeting was the artistic director of the Maly Theater Yuri Solomin, pianist Denis Matsuev, fencers, Olympic champion Sophia the Great. Among the invited people to the event are dancer Nikolai Tsiscaridze, doctor Leonid Roshal, music producer Joseph Prigozhin, fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin, actor Mikhail Boyarsky, singer Diana Gurtskaya, composer Igor Krutoy, chief editor of Komsomolskaya Pravda Vladimir Sungorkin.
As a member of the initiative group, Alexander Karelin, said the former wrestler of the classical style, now the State Duma deputy from United Russia, the organization of the meeting cost 900 thousand rubles.
