Putin was officially nominated as a presidential candidate

The initiative group announced the official nomination of the current head of state, Vladimir Putin, as a candidate for the presidential elections in 2018. This was stated by the head of the initiative group, the head of the Sirius Center for Gifted Children, Elena Shmeleva, reports . RIA Novosti

“The decision was made unanimously,” Shmeleva announced at a group meeting in one of the VDNKh pavilions.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his intention to run for another term during a speech to the workers of the GAZ plant in Nizhny Novgorod.

Putin goes to the polls as an independent candidate. According to the law, in this case, the initiative group should nominate a candidate, it should include at least 500 people.

Putin's candidacy was previously supported by the parties "United Russia", as well as "Fair Russia", thus refusing to nominate a presidential candidate from their own party.

The initiative group for the nomination included senators and deputies, as well as artists and musicians, public figures. Speaking at the congress, actor Yuri Solomin told the audience that he loves his Motherland, loves fields and forests, and Vladimir Putin is a man of his word, he helped art a lot and in particular the Maly Theater, the actor exclaimed: "For Putin!" And left the stage.

The presidential elections in Russia will be held on March 18, 2018.
