The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow fined municipal deputy of the Krasnoselsky District Ilya Yashin 30 thousand rubles for holding a meeting of citizens in Lermontovsky Park without filing a notice (Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code), writes Mediazona.

At the court hearing, deputies of the Krasnoselsky district Alexei Gorinov and Petr Tsarkov confirmed that the police initially did not allow the stage to be set up for the celebration, but, after Yashin agreed to change the format of the event to a meeting, they did not interfere with the meeting. The judge also watched a video message from Ilya Yashin, which talks about the mayor’s office’s attempts to interfere with the celebration. This was reported in the Mediazona broadcast from the courtroom.

On the afternoon of December 28, Yashin was detained by the police and taken to the Krasnoselsky police station. There, a report was drawn up against the deputy for resisting a police officer (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code).
On December 24, a protocol on administrative violation was drawn up against Yashin. The police considered the event in Lermontovsky Square, which was organized by a municipal deputy, to be an unauthorized public action.
The organizers initially planned to hold the “Free Election Day” holiday in the Krasnoselsky district, but were forced to abandon the idea of holding the holiday due to opposition from the police. Yashin announced that instead of a holiday, a meeting of citizens would be held in Lermontovsky Square. There were no arrests at the event itself. In a nearby courtyard, a man with a quadcopter was detained , but was quickly released.
