The former head of Rosgranitsa was sentenced to nine years for fraud

The Meshchansky Court of Moscow sentenced Dmitry Bezdelov, the former head of the Federal Agency for the Arrangement of the State Border of the Russian Federation (Rosgranitsa), to nine years in prison for fraud.

Bezdelov was also fined one million rubles. The accusation of organizing a criminal community was excluded from the case.

Bezdelov's defense intends to appeal the verdict.

Seven more accomplices of Bezdelov received terms from 2 to 8 years, all convicts will serve their sentences in a general regime colony.

• According to investigators, Dmitry Bezdelov, together with his accomplices, including his deputy and heads of several companies, stole more than 490 million rubles in 2009-2013, allocated for the reconstruction of several automobile and railway checkpoints in different regions of Russia.
• Dmitry Bezdelov has been wanted since 2013. He was detained in Italy and extradited to Russia in 2016. He did not admit his guilt.
