Activists of the “Spring” movement brought a huge yellow duck to the St. Petersburg administration building, which became a symbol of the rally on the Champ de Mars on June 12.
“The past year will be remembered by many for the investigation into the corruption of the 3rd president and the current head of government and the United Russia party, Dmitry Medvedev. The symbol of subsequent protests was yellow ducks, a reminder of the duck house found on one of Medvedev’s estates.
The administration of St. Petersburg was afraid of the protests and refused to coordinate rallies of opponents of corruption. And now the symbol of these protests said hello to the administration. We hope that next year people who respect the rights of St. Petersburg residents to peacefully express their opinions will start working there.”
