One hundred years ago, on December 31, 1917, Lenin signed the decree of the Council of People's Commissars recognizing the independence of Finland. It proposed: "Enter the Central Executive Committee with a proposal: a) to recognize the state independence of the Republic of Finland and b) to organize, by agreement with the Finnish government, a special commission of representatives of both sides to develop those practical measures that follow from the separation of Finland from Russia ".
In reality, the Bolsheviks were not going to respect the independence of Finland and were preparing an uprising against the legitimate Finnish government with the participation of the left wing of the Finnish Social Democracy and Russian troops. It began on January 27, 1918.
