At the same time, Kim declared the DPRK the “peace -loving and responsible nuclear power” and called for a decrease in military tension on the Korean peninsula. “When it comes to relations between the North and the South, we must reduce military tension on the Korean Peninsula to create a peaceful situation,” said the North Korean leader. “Both the north and south should make efforts.”

Kim also stated that he would consider the issue of sending a delegation to the Winter Olympic Games in South Korean Pyeongchang. "The participation of North Korea in winter games will be a good opportunity to demonstrate national pride, and we wish the games to be successful. The officials of the two Kores can urgently meet to discuss this opportunity," he said.

In South Korea, they said that they were welcoming the offer of Kim, reports Reuters. “We always declared our readiness to talk to North Korea anytime and anywhere, if it helps to restore inter -Korean relations and lead to peace on the Korean peninsula,” said the representative of the country's president. “We hope that two Koreas will sit down and find a decision to reduce tension and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.”

The Organizing Committee of the Olympiad also said that they were welcoming the participation of the North Koreans in games and are ready for negotiations.

On December 22, the UN Security Council tightened sanctions against the DPRK . The resolution, the project of which was introduced by the United States after the next missile test in North Korea, was adopted unanimously. In accordance with the document from January 1, 2018, no more than 500 thousand barrels of oil products and no more than 4 million barrels (525 tons) of raw oil are allowed to supply to North Korea. It is also a ban on the sale of industrial equipment, vehicles, steel and other metals.

The same resolution prohibits export from the DPRK of food products and agricultural goods, a number of minerals, ore, electric goods and other equipment. In addition, members of the Security Council also condemned the illegal export of coal from the DPRK and called on all states to stop it. Countries are allowed to stop, search and detain ships following from North Korea or into it.

Also, all states are prescribed in a two -year term from the date of adoption of the document to deport all North Korean workers to their homeland.
