The reception of documents from self -nominated presidential elections in March 2018 ended. This was reported on the website of the Central Election Commission.

The CEC received 46 notifications from citizens who decided to run for elections in the order of self -nomination. At the same time, only fifteen such candidates submitted documents for consideration, of which five on the last day established by law, January 7th.

The Central Election Commission registered three groups of voters created in support of the self -nomination of candidates: the current president Vladimir Putin , deputy of the Kostroma regional Duma Vladimir Mikhailov and entrepreneur Alexander Chukhlebov. However, the registration of the latter was canceled by the Supreme Court due to the presence of a residence permit in Finland.

In the registration of groups in support of seven candidates, the Central Election Commission refused. Now the CEC is checking documents submitted by five self -nominates.

Political parties can submit documents to nominate their candidates until January 12. To date, the CEC has registered authorized representatives from 14 political parties. Special election accounts were opened by 11 candidates, including Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR), Pavel Grudinin (Communist Party), Ksenia Sobchak (Civil Initiative), Grigory Yavlinsky (Yabloko), Boris Titov ("Growth Party), Sergey Baburin (" Russian National Union ").
