Hello! “Evening Medusa” woke up after the New Year holidays - and is trying to understand what has happened important and interesting over the past 10 days.
Let's start with the main one. On January 1, dozens of laws and by -laws entered into force in Russia. We have collected some of them in the same picture:

In Iran for about a half weeks , mass protests continued, covering almost the entire country . The reason for them was the increase in prices, but soon the demonstrators put forward political slogans - for example, "The death of Rouhani!" Iranian President Hassan Rukhani accused of everything Americans and the Zionist regime (that is, Israel). Donald Trump supported the demonstrators. The Russian Foreign Ministry opposed the intervention in the internal affairs of Iran.
The book “Flame and Fury, has published in the United States. Inside the White House with Trump. " Its author - journalist Michael Wolff - describes the new American administration in the first year of its existence. In some facts set forth in the book, it is difficult to believe (and it is not entirely clear whether to believe in them, since Wulff rarely refers to specific sources). For example:
In Los Angeles awarded the Golden Globe awards . The main award was received by the film “Three Billboards on the Border of Ebbing, Missouri” (Anton Dolin considers this picture the best work of director Martin McDonakh). Three billboards won the largest number of categories, including the nomination for the best female role (Francis McDormand).
The awards ceremony also turned into a public campaign against sexual harassment. The TV presenter Oprah Winfrey made a speech about women's rights:
“I am proud and inspired by the example of all women who found the strength to speak out and tell what happened to them. All of us [in the hall] are noted for those stories that we [as actresses and actors] tell; This year we ourselves became history. ”
In protest against sexual violence, many actresses came to the Golden Globe in black dresses .

In December 2012, a law prohibiting the Americans to adopt children from Russia entered into force. Among those to whom this law prevented to find a family was prevented by seven -year -old Lera, who was born with Down syndrome. Five years later, she remains in a boarding school on the outskirts of St. Petersburg.
Catrine and Stephen Morrisa from San Diego were going to adopt Leru . They did not have enough just a few days to complete the necessary formalities. Now the American couple can not even personally bring gifts to Lere - they have to be transferred through friends.
“I communicate with many who adopted children from Russia. Most guys are very good. Some have features, including Down syndrome, but they study well, know how to read and go to school with other children. My heart hurts when I understand how much Lera missed, because we were not allowed to adopt her, ”says Katrin Morris.
After a long weekend, one of you may feel the symptoms of the so-called post-leaves depression. Most likely, it only seems to you - and the diagnosis does not exist. Journalist Daria Sargsyan wrote about this at Medusa a year ago- read it if you missed in early 2017 .
