On October 10, 2017, the collegium of the Supreme Court, chaired by Igor Krupnov , confirmed the terms appointed by five convicts in the Nemtsov murder case. The verdict was issued three months earlier, on July 13, the judge of the Moscow District Military Court Yuri Zhitnikov on the basis of the jury verdict. The retired officer of the Kadyrovsky battalion of the North, Zaur Dadaev, recognized by the Contractor of the crime, received 20 years of strict regime, Anzor Gubashev - 19 years old, his brother Shadid Gubashev - 16 years old, a former Chechen police officer Temirlan Eskerkhanov - 14 years old, Khamzat Bakhaev - 11 years of strict regime.
The customer and organizer of the murder in the case was named Kadyrovets Ruslan Mukhudinov. Its location, as the TFR claimed, could not be established during the investigation. Materials in relation to Mukhudinov, as well as "other unidentified persons" are allocated into separate production. Mukhudinov was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia.
The complaints about the verdict were filed by lawyers both defendants in the case and the daughter of the politician Jeanne Nemtsova. The defense of the convicts demanded to cancel the conviction and send the case for a new consideration. Meanwhile, Nemtsova’s lawyers, first of all, insisted on retraining the charges from Article 105 (murder) to Article 277 of the Criminal Code (attempted life of a politician). Along with this, they noted the unproven guilt of Bakhaev, as well as the release of customers and the organizers of the crime.
