The square in front of the Russian Embassy in Washington was named named after Nemtsov

The City Council of Washington unanimously adopted an accelerated law on the assignment of the Visconsin Avenue section in front of the Russian Embassy, ​​the name of Boris Nemtsov Square. This was announced on his FB page by the Open Russia functionary Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr..

The law will enter into force on February 27 - the third anniversary of the murder of a politician.

Public hearings on the name of the square in honor of Nemtsov were held in the city council on December 7, 2017 . “The current Russian political regime wants to eradicate the memory of my father, because he believes, and it is fair that the symbols are important and can potentially facilitate and inspire changes,” said Zhanna Nemtsov, the daughter of the deceased at the hearing.

Meanwhile, in Moscow, the Movement "Solidarity" outlined on February 25 the next march of Nemtsov’s memory. The procession is supposed to be drawn along the Boulevard Ring from Pushkinskaya Square to Sakharov Avenue. The city hall will be given a timely notification.
