Telegram is going to release its own cryptocurrency in March 2018, TechCrunch reports

Telegram messenger is going to create its own cryptocurrency and blockchain platform. It is reported by TechCrunch with reference to several sources.

According to the publication, the cryptocurrency will be called Gram, and the platform will be Telegram Open Network (Ton). According to TechCrunch, the company will conduct ICO in March 2018 (primary placement of cryptocurrency to attract investment) to launch cryptocurrency. The Ton blockchain platform, according to the sources of the publication, will be able to protect all payments between Telegram users. The company plans to leave 52 % of the total cryptocurrency in order to avoid speculation, and sell 44 % publicly. 4 % will be reserved by the developers of the messenger.

In addition, the messenger plans to launch an electronic wallet in the fourth quarter of 2018. Through it it will be possible to transfer not only cryptocurrency, but also ordinary money. And in the second quarter of 2019, it is planned to launch Ton Services - a platform through which services from third -party developers and bots will be able to work.
