Trump suggested that he has a "very good" relationship with Kim Jong -un

US President Donald Trump suggested that he had a good relationship with the North Korean leader Kim Jong -un, despite mutual public insults.

In a big interview, The Wall Street Journal Trump said: "I probably have a very good relationship with Kim Jong -un. I have a relationship with people. I think you are surprised."

When he was asked to clarify whether he was talking to the head of the DPRK, Trump replied: "I do not want to comment on it. I do not say that he said or did not say, I just do not want to comment."

WSJ considers Trump's comments as a signal to the fact that the White House is open to a diplomatic solution to the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Last fall, against the backdrop of the next expansion of sanctions after missile tests, the head of North Korea called Trump "crazy old man." The US President commented on this on his Twitter: "Why did Kim Jong -un insulted me, calling the old one? I would never call him a low and fat ."

On January 10, Trump announced his readiness for dialogue with the DPRK during a telephone conversation with the President of South Korea Moon Jaen. The presidents discussed the results of the first in two years of negotiations between the North and the South.

The DPRK, however, made it clear that she would not discuss a nuclear program with Seoul. "All our types of weapons, including atomic bombs, hydrogen bombs and ballistic missiles, are aimed only at the United States, and not at our brothers, China and Russia," the chief negotiator from Pyongyang said.
