On the Lena River, while trying to cross it under her under the ice, a tanker with 20 tons of oil products failed. The incident occurred on the night of January 10 to January 11 in the Irkutsk region near the settlement of Kriva Luka of the Kirensky district.
On the evening of the Ural cars, on January 11, a group of the Northern Search and Rescue Detachment of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Irkutsk Region consisting of eight people and two units of equipment was sent to the place of the failure of the two cars, the regional department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reports.
Cars tried to cross the river outside the equipped crossing, since it has a restriction on the weight of cars up to five tons. “The winter road, along which trucks crossed the river, is an unauthorized ice road,” the Interfax said in the Ministry of Emergencies.
First, a gas outlet fell under the ice, the driver managed to get out of the car. The owner of the car directed the car crane to the aid, but the ice also could not stand his weight, and he fell after him. The driver was also not injured. The photographs shows that at the site of the failure, an oily spot was formed.
With the help of barrier bon, sorbent and special equipment, rescuers eliminate oil products that spilled at the site of the failure of the fuel truck. Divers examine the tank for tightness and try to find the source of pollution. The area of ice polluted by oil products was more than 500 square meters. All polluted ice will be cut out and taken out of the river for disposal. In case of water pollution, oil products will be collected using sorbent and bonal barriers.
“The depth at the place of failure is more than five meters, the distance to the shore is 30 meters, the width of the river in this place is 250 meters, the thickness of the ice at the place of failure is insufficient for heavy equipment and amounts to 30 centimeters. These circumstances complicate the conduct of emergency work on this section of the river,” said Colonel Valery Chanstz, deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies for the Irkutsk Region.
According to him, now the main task is to raise cars in such a way as not to violate the integrity of the tank in which oil products are located. In the conduct of emergency work, 39 people and 12 units of equipment are already involved. The owner and drivers of heavy trucks who allowed the incident will be held administratively liable. There is no threat to the population, since there are no water intakes downstream.
