The Voskresensky City Court of the Moscow Region sentenced to one and a half years in prison of a civil activist from Kolomna Valentin Sokolov for posts on social networks. It is reported by "Mediazona" with reference to the wife of Politzek.

Elena Sokolova denied previous reports that her husband received three years in a colony.

Sokolov was found guilty under Article 282 of the Criminal Code (excitement of hatred or enmity). He was taken into custody in the courtroom. According to investigators, the activist posted on his page on the Social Network "Odnoklassniki" an image that arouses hatred of the Russians, and also published on the Facebook page two racist videos.

Sokolov’s case was reported by the owl information center. According to screenshots, the activist made a repost of the screenshot with the text of the pro -Ukrainian orientation, containing calls for the murder of Russians, accompanying him with a comment: "How stubborn is to be stubborn to carry such heresy. Or deliberately incurred. It is terribly read." However, the investigation did not take into account that Sokolov expressed a negative attitude to the published image. In the “Miscellaneous” folder on Sokolov’s page, the picture with the text was preserved without comment, which entered the case file.

Publications on Sokolov Facebook really have a frankly racist character. However, he claims that the page where videos and comments were discovered did not belong to him and was fabricated.

According to Sokolov, the case against him was opened on July 15, 2016. In July 2017, it was terminated, and then the case was resumed according to new episodes. Initially, a number of other materials of xenophobic content, published not only on Facebook, but also on VKontakte, appeared in the case. However, accusations on them were not brought.

42 -year -old Sokolov is the father of four children. In 2016, he nominated to the deputies of the Moscow Regional Duma from the Rodina party.
