The decision to pardon the former member of the Federation Council from Bashkiria Igor Izmestiev, convicted by life for organizing custom -made murders, will be adopted at the end of January. This was stated by the head of the Moscow Helsinki group Lyudmila Alekseeva, Interfax reports .

“From the Moscow Commission for the Presidential Administration, to the department that is pardoned, it came (Izmestieva. - Ed.) A petition with a positive conclusion. He is included in the draft decree on pardon,” said Alekseeva. “The president will consider and sign the president at the end of January.”

In early September, Alekseeva reported that the petition for the pardon of Izmestiev was filed at the place of serving his sentence in the Solikamsk colony "White Lebed", as well as directly to the presidential administration.

On July 20, Vladimir Putin personally visited Alekseev and congratulated on the 90th anniversary. During the visit, the head of the ICG asked the president to have mercy on Izmestiev . "I told the president:" This is not a gift, this is a request. Do a good deed - have mercy on Igor Izmestiev. This is mercy ... Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin promised to consider the mercy of Izmestiev. "Yes. The president said that this is possible, and that it would take time," Peskov said.

Izmestiev was engaged in oil business and was a senator from Bashkiria from 2001 to 2006. In 2007, FSB officers detained Izmestiev at Bishkek Airport, where he flew to negotiations. The ex-Senator was accused of involvement in the murder of notary Galina Perepelkina, the wife of his former business partner Yuri Bushuev.

In 2010, Izmestev was sentenced by the Moscow City Court to life imprisonment on charges of organizing murders, terrorism, banditry, organizing a bribe and attempted life of the Urals Rakhimov, the son of the then president of Bashkiria, Murtazi Rakhimov. At the same time, the court satisfied the claims of the victims for a total of 7.8 million rubles.

Izmestiev’s testimony became the basis for the arrest of entrepreneur Levon Ayrapetyan, one of the defendants in the criminal case of theft of shares of the Bashneft oil company .

In April 2015, Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said that Izmestiev’s assets were returned from Switzerland , and due to this money the victims will be compensated for the damage.
