The leader of "Labor Russia" Viktor Anpilov died in the intensive care of the Institute. Sklifosovsky after a stroke, without regaining consciousness. This was reported on the FB page of the politician. Anpilov was 72 years old.

On the eve of the left activist, the State Duma deputy Daria Mitina said that the politician had an extensive stroke when he was going to meet with the presidential candidate from the Communist Party Pavel Grudinin. On the same day, Anpilov was hospitalized.

Anpilov began a political career in 1990, having elected to the Moscow City Council. In 1992, he took part in the Constituent Congress of the Russian Communist Labor Party, in the same year he became one of the creators of “Labor Russia”. In 1996, Anpilov was expelled from the RKRP.

In 1992-1993, he was an active participant in the anteltsian rallies of the left opposition, in October 1993 he defended the Supreme Council. After the defeat of the Armed Forces, Anpilov was arrested, spent almost six months in the Lefortovo pre -trial detention center, but in February 1994, along with other participants in the October confrontation, he was released under amnesty.

In the elections to the State Duma of 1995, "Labor Russia" received only 4.7 percent of the vote, not overcoming a five percent barrier. During the presidential campaign in 1996, Anpilov refused to support the leader of the Communist Party of the Communist Party of Gennady Zyuganov, considering his position too moderate.

In 2001, Anpilov unsuccessfully tried to get into the State Duma. He also tried to get to the lower house of parliament in 2003 and 2005, first on the party list of the LDPR, and then like a single -mandate, but both times the nomination broke. Anpilov was also going to participate in the 2004 presidential election, but later abandoned this initiative.

In the 2000s, the opposition continued to reach street protests, including the "disagreement marches". In 2012, he was a confidant of Vladimir Zhirinovsky in the presidential election.

In 2014, Anpilov supported the annexation of Crimea.
