Republic investigation of torture in Chechnya suspects of drug use does not correspond to reality and represent an attempt to “denigrate Chechnya’s internal affairs bodies in the eyes of the public’s eyes.” This was announced by RBC by a spokeswoman for the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov Alvi Karimov.

According to Karimov, in the region there are “attempts by drug sabotage from the outside”, in which prohibited substances are brought to Chechnya from neighboring areas and sometimes give them free. “We resolve this issue inside,” he emphasized.

The press secretary Kadyrov added that the Investigative Directorate of the IC for Chechnya conducted an audit on the complaint of residents of the village of Avtors of the Meszhidov brothers. Both of them were mentioned in the investigation of Republic - they were detained on suspicion of drug trafficking and tortured electricity, seeking confession. Karimov said that after the SK was checking the criminal case against the police who detained the Mezhidovs, he was denied "due to the lack of an event of the corpus delicti."

Previously, on January 16, Republic published an investigation that, as part of a campaign to combat drugs, Chechen police officers torture suspects, forcing them to admit the use of prohibited substances. According to the Republican Ministry of Internal Affairs, since August 2017, when Kadyrov announced the creation of the operational headquarters to combat drug addiction, 507 drug crime were identified, 304 criminal cases were instituted.

At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Chechnya did not record violations during the detention of the suspects, and in the UK they did not find the corpus delicti according to the results of two inspections. The Republic request in the regional departments of the prosecutor's office and the UK, as well as the Chechnya administration, did not respond.
