At the end of last year, several important changes occurred in the investigation in the criminal case of local historian, publicist, chairman of the Karelian branch of the Memorial Society Yuri Dmitriev.
A second study entrusted by the court of the Federal Department of Independent Forensic Expertise from St. Petersburg did not reveal signs of pornography in the pictures of his minor adopted daughter Natasha. On December 27, 2017, it became known that the judge of the Petrozavodsk city court Marina Nosova refused the prosecutor’s office to extend the arrest of the human rights activist and replaced him with a preventive measure for a recognizance not to leave.
The very next day, Dmitriev was transferred to the Moscow investigative detention center "Butyrka", and on December 30 they transferred to the Institute. Serbian, where he will undergo a psychiatric examination appointed by the court at the proposal of the prosecutor's office.
As already reported by the TRV-NAUKA, Yuri Dmitriev, the leading Russian search specialist, the author of numerous books in memory of the victims of the political repressions of the 1930s-1940s in Karelia and materials on the history of the construction of the White Sea-Baltic Canal, the creator of memorial cemeteries in former shooting training grounds of the times of a large terror. The efforts of Dmitriev and his colleagues on the Memorial society from non -existence were rescued by the names of 11 thousand victims of the Stalinist repression and the place of their burial - Sandarmokh and Red Bor. Dmitriev also found burials on the slope of the sectory mountain on Solovki.
Dmitriev spent more than a year in pre -trial detention center No. 1 of Petrozavodsk. The trial began last June. The local historian was accused of using the daughter for the manufacture of pornographic photographs and of making depraved actions with her, as well as in the illegal storage of firearms.
The local historian categorically denies his guilt. The only "proof" of guilt is photographs. Lawyer Viktor Anufriev, like the defendant himself, from the first days after the detention of the accused claimed that nine photographs of the girl in nude, formed the basis of the criminal case, were secretly seized by unknown people from his computer and are actually a health diary. Dmitriev photographed a painful child (whom he considered it his moral duty to adopt, because he himself survived the deprivation of orphan childhood) to inform the guardianship of the girl’s condition.
The conclusion that the pictures are supposedly pornographic, made the center of sociocultural examinations. It is noteworthy that the same institution conducted research on the affairs of the Pussy Riot group and the Jehovah's Witnesses International Religious Organization. Recall that in the end, the participants of the first were sentenced to two years in prison, and the activities of adherents of the second were recognized as the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in our country.
Now the conclusion of the Center is refuted by the results of the second examination, and the accusation of Dmitriev’s case is unsatisfied with what is happening to seek a third examination. However, there was a hope that Yuri Alekseevich would find out her results - and he would celebrate his birthday on January 28 - not behind bars, since the arrest expires at the end of this month.
As for the weapons found in the house of the defendant, this hunting rifle was released about 60 years ago, and the expert could not even find cartridges that could be shot from it.
Human rights activists, historians, cultural figures and many other independent observers consider accusations far -fetched. In support of Dmitriev, a wide public campaign is deployed. On December 9, in the Sakharov Center in Moscow, a solidarity evening took place with a human rights activist, in which the daughter of Yuri Alekseevich Katerina Klodt took part, writers Lyudmila Ulitskaya, Sergey Gandlevsky, Dmitry Vedenyapin, Tatyana Shcherbina, Marina Boroditskaya, translator Natalya Harry Bardin, Bard Timur Shaov, journalist Victoria Ivlevva and others. On December 19, the evening in support of Yu. A. Dmitriev was held in the Pushkin House in London, and on December 20-in the Anna Akhmatova Museum in a fountain house in St. Petersburg, as part of the exhibition “Gulag. The fairy tale was from the terrible. "

On December 21, the name of Dmitriev was heard on the issue of journalist and co -organizer of the Enlightener Award Alexander Arkhangelsky, which he set by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Council for Culture and Art [1]. But he left the answer (both in the literal and figurative sense of the word).
Recall that the human rights center "Memorial" (Moscow) recognized Dmitriev as a political prisoner [2]. Historics scientists are of the opinion that what is happening with Dmitriev fits into the channel of the general trend when history is used for inappropriate purposes. In particular, the St. Petersburg historian, a specialist in the period of mass repressions in the USSR Anatoly Razumov, a colleague of Yuri Dmitrieva, actively defending his defense, is convinced that the local historian was "arrested for Sandarmokh."
In Sandarmokh there was a tradition that has been supported for 20 years: on August 5, on the day of the beginning of a large terror, when the NKVD No. 00447 “On the Operations for the Repression of Former Fists, Criminals and other anti -Soviet elements” was issued, representatives of many countries gather in this memorable place to honor their ancestors who were shot and buried there. It is very likely that the persecution of Dmitriev is associated with the pressure of forces that do not want international participation in these days of memory. As Razumov noted at a briefing dedicated to the Dmitriev’s case and last summer in the international “memorial” in Moscow [3], in the press about two years ago - presumably, the Federal Security Service, initiated publications that contained the supposedly “dubious” Sandarmokh, “maybe these were the Finns of our prisoners of war”. This campaign lasted until August 4, 2016. And on August 5, at the level of Karelia’s leadership, it was decided not to participate officially in memory days.
The state is trying to force scientists to play according to its rules, according to a historian, professor, head of the journalism department of the Institute of Mass-Media of the Russian State University, a member of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights Nikolai Svanidze. At the same briefing, he expressed a judgment that “our past is perceived as an ideological regime platform,” and “honest historians are as real political opposition. In this sense, they follow the minefield. History, according to a very influential part of the authorities, needs to be stolen, not like it was, not in truth, but as required. ”
The procedure at the Institute. Serbian can take up to 30 days. Since Soviet times, this institution has preserved an extremely negative reputation - as an institution that used the methods of punitive psychiatry. And yet, despite this, on the intensified odious trends in the approaches to history, I would like to believe that the latest events around Yuri Dmitriev are a good sign that signals the turn in this very dubious matter.
