On the morning of January 17, a fire broke out in the office of the Human Rights Center "Memorial", located in Nazran (Ingushetia), TASS reports with reference to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the republic.
According to firefighters, computers, tables, chairs and office paper burned down. The burning area was 76 m 2 . There were no casualties. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
According to Novaya Gazeta , Memorial's office was set on fire. The video of the arson shows two young men wearing masks and gloves putting a ladder up to the roof and climbing it up to the second floor, where Memorial's office is located. The arsonists had a canister in their hands. A melted plastic bottle with a distinct smell of kerosene was found in the office of Timur Akiyev, head of Nazran Memorial. The recording shows how young people are trying to break one of the video cameras installed on the office building, the newspaper notes.
