Kaspersky Lab has detected a dangerous Skygofree Trojan that infects Android devices. With its help, attackers can read WhatsApp correspondence, monitor movements and eavesdrop on conversations.

• In Kaspersky, the virus is called a "cinematic Trojan" because of its capabilities. Skygofree can track the location of the device and turn on audio recording, read WhatsApp conversations, intercept calls, sms and other data, connect it to hacker Wi-Fi and secretly track all logins and passwords of the victim, and take photos from the front camera on the phone's lock screen .
• The Trojan was discovered at the end of 2017 and so far only two cases of infection have been recorded in Italy. But, according to Kaspersky, it has been operating since 2014. On fake sites of mobile operators, attackers offer to install Skygofree under the guise of an update that will increase Internet speed. If the user agrees, the trojan disguises itself as an application and launches a "payload" itself - data corruption, information theft, and anything else, depending on the goals of the criminals.
• Kaspersky warns that the Trojan may also come to Russia.
