The case of Nechevnov was considered in court twice. On August 2, 2017, the peace judge of the 101st section of the Central District Victoria Isaevafined the defendant for 50 thousand rubles . One of the witnesses of the prosecution was the Sochi Dean, rector of the church of Prince Vladimir Andrei Dubrovsky. In his testimony at the investigation, he regarded the caricatures that appeared in the case, as blasphemy and provocation of inter -religious growth. Nochevnov himself did not plead guilty, saying that he had no goal of anyone to insult. Nevertheless, he deleted his VK page.

After the sentence, the Sochi turned to Popkov for help. The lawyer filed an appeal. On October 27, after several meetings, the judge of the Central District Court of Sochi Vadim Orekhov canceled the sentence to Nechevnov , sending his case for a new consideration.

The re -trial started on December 21 . In the first hearing, in essence, Shulepin accused Nochevnova of becoming a godfather, being unbaptized himself. The judge terminated the case only at the third meeting of the process.
