A court in Crimea extended the arrest term of an anti-corruption official accused of inciting hatred

The Sudak City Court extended the arrest term of Oleg Semenov, a member of the public association “Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Republic of Crimea” until February 20. He is accused of inciting hatred or enmity (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code) for publishing a video on a social network. Lawyers consider the arrest to be an excessive measure; they presented positive characteristics and a petition from the oldest deputy of the Sudak City Council.

Dmitry Dzhigalov and Oleg Semenov, activists of the public association "Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Republic of Kazakhstan", are accused of inciting hatred or enmity (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code) for negative assessments of the group of people "Bulgarians" in a video dedicated to exposing corrupt officials in Sudak.

Dzhigalov is under recognizance not to leave, and Semenov was taken under arrest on October 13, 2017 after he left his place of residence on personal matters. Activists consider their criminal prosecution to be revenge from officials.
