The team of special prosecutor Robert Muller will continue the investigation of the alleged intervention of Russia in the American elections in 2016, despite the stop of financing federal departments, CNN reports.

Müller was appointed by the Ministry of Justice for this investigation, but works independently of him. “All employees in the office of a special prosecutor will continue to work in case of termination of budget financing,” the representative of the department confirmed to the channel.

On the eve of the Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate could not come to an agreement on the issue of extension of financing the federal government, as a result of which his work was suspended.

The proceedings about the possible intervention of the Russian Federation in the American elections are conducted by the FBI and special committees of intelligence of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the US Congress. In mid -May 2017, the Ministry of Justice announced the appointment of the former director of the FBI Robert Muller by the special prosecutor to conduct another such independent trial.
