The Moscow City Court approved a fine against the municipal deputy for the Krasnoselsky district Ilya Yashin under Part 2 of Art. 20.2 of the Administrative Code (organization of an unapproved public event). Interfax reports this.
On December 28, the Meshchansky District Courtfined Yashin 30 thousand rubles for holding a meeting of citizens in Lermontovsky Park. On January 15, the Tagansky courtrejected the claim of a municipal deputy against Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin due to the refusal of the capital authorities to approve the regional holiday “Free Election Day.”
The mayor's office refused to coordinate the event, citing the lack of the necessary package of documents and non-compliance with the deadlines for submitting notification of the holiday. Yashin argued that according to the law, municipal authorities have the right to organize holidays without the consent of the city administration. Despite this, the Moscow City Court overturned the decision of the Council of Deputies to hold the holiday and actually banned it.
