In Cheboksary, the court fined the coordinator of Navalny's headquarters for leaflets

In Cheboksary, the Leninsky District Court fined the coordinator of the campaign headquarters of Alexei Navalny in Chuvashia, Semyon Kochkin, a thousand rubles. Kochkin was found guilty of conducting election campaigning by “persons who are prohibited from participating in it by federal law” (Article 5.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The court also ordered Kochkin to destroy leaflets telling about the "Voters' Strike" protest action. The event is scheduled to take place on January 28th.

The headquarters coordinator noted that the judge did not ask him a single question at the meeting.

In the group of Navalny's headquarters in Cheboksary on the VKontakte social network, it is reported that on January 17, law enforcement officers detained an underage volunteer while posting leaflets about the protest. He was interrogated for six hours without a lawyer, after which the teenager said that he received the leaflets personally from the headquarters coordinator. In the evening, leaflets about the action were confiscated from the headquarters.

Later, the CEC of Chuvashia admitted that the leaflets "contribute to the formation of a negative attitude towards the candidate V.V. Putin", and therefore are election campaigning.

Since January 16, law enforcement officers have been coming to the headquarters of Alexei Navalny every day with searches and confiscating leaflets with information about the all-Russian campaign "Voters' Strike", which is due to take place on January 28. In Cheboksary, along with leaflets, the police seized the board game "Instead of Putin."

On December 25, 2017, the Central Election Commission refused to register oppositionist Alexei Navalny as a presidential candidate in the 2018 elections due to an outstanding conviction in the Kirovles case. After that, the politician called for a boycott of the presidential elections in 2018 and announced for January 28 an all-Russian protest action - “Voter Strike”.
