Working in a male prison as a psychologist for convicts, I met those. They are easy to distinguish in one general line - they are unbearably tormented. They do not sleep, moan and cry, they are painfully ashamed. The affect passes, there is wine. The power of the human super-ego, in the world called a conscience, is weakening for a minute under pressure from emotions, but it passes, and then the eschatological horror of the deed, the irrevocability of this act, his lifelongation is piled on a person. They perceive punishment as a chance of atonement and are not trying to improve their life in prison. They really suffer very much.

There are murders committed by antizocial psychopaths. These are cold -blooded, precisely designed crimes, and those who committed them do not regret it - they simply have nothing. Sometimes people are born for whom the assimilation of ten commandments and the ability to empathy are inaccessible. All these people are also similar to each other. At the trial, they say the right words about repentance, but in fact they never repent of the deed. They are simply incapable of this.

The percentage of both crimes in the population is approximately constant. Nature with enviable constancy produces emotionally deficiency, incapable of sympathy of people, most of whom are men. The number of crimes committed in affect and negligently decreases with a decrease in the level of social stress in the country, but slightly. These are the same constant values that we cannot influence you and I.

And there is a third type of crimes against the individual. It is committed by people with mental disorders. People whose psyche is so vulnerable that it is able to cross the thin line between reality and vision, people who experience the so -called acute states - for example, acute psychosis.

Make retribution. The object of hatred is most often close people, relatives or friends of psychotic, often - the attending physician or teacher. Often the condition of acute psychosis is accompanied by the so -called productive symptoms - delirium, hallucinations. And the voices that a person hears in psychosis never advises anything good. The need to harm yourself or another is a typical state with psychosis.

Almost any person can survive this condition, if the stress level is strong enough - a fire, a train or aircraft crash of a living examples. In ordinary life, people who are in vulnerable, people who are particularly sensitive from childhood, strange, introverted, shy, emotionally unstable, with ridiculous and elaborate behavior from childhood, are experiencing. And you know what? These people always know in advance that something is wrong with them.

Moscow student Artem Iskhakov also knew about this. He turned to a psychiatrist, drank “some pills”, he went to a psychologist. Why was this not enough? Was Artem too sick, or specialists treating him - not qualified enough?

Neither one nor the other. High -vanish people, people with a borderline personality disorder or psychotic disorder need a support system, which are included from adolescence when they begin to experience the first serious difficulties. Not a single, the most qualified psychologist or psychiatrist will cope with such a disorder alone - usually the patient interrupts the treatment ahead of schedule. In order to keep it in treatment, to keep it on the edge (one of the main manifestations of these disorders is a high level of suicidality), many professional hands are needed, a built -in, highly efficiently working system of prevention and treatment.

It is economically as unprofitable as to contain criminals in worthy conditions in prisons. My eternal dispute with compatriots - why shouldn't the criminal in prison live in bestial conditions, by what right is the TV in his cell, and the overseers do not hit him in the face? The correct answer is because imprisonment is already sufficient punishment. It is difficult for us, which have grown up in a country, half of the territory of which was occupied by camps, it is difficult to understand this rhetoric.

To create and maintain a system of assistance to chronically mentally ill patients, to pay for the army of expensive and highly qualified doctors and psychotherapists, who also need to be constantly trained, make insurance payments from the budget for pharmacotherapy, provide group therapy, build a system of adaptation to ordinary life, conduct social skills with the help of social workers - and all this without much hope for the fact that people are for whom people are for whom people are for whom This is done will ever be contributed to an increase in the gross national product. The task is not to “isolate crazy people from normal”, but to teach those who are genetically lucky, still living in this difficult world, and if this is impossible, provide worthy conditions for existence.

And this is not about economic benefit. This is about mercy and foresight.

The fact that those who are vulnerable know that something is wrong with them and are looking for help. Student Artem was unprecedented. It was no coincidence that he used drugs - among mentally ill patients, this is a frequent means of self -medication, an attempt to achieve in this way the state of desired peace. Home Artem into a system of psychiatric support - Tanya would be alive. Artem would be alive. This story would not have happened. Probably, Artem would not be easy. But he would have lived, and his ex -girlfriend, too.

You can curse the killer and rejoice at the very fully retaliation, you can be horrified by what happened, you can blame the victim - rent one apartment with an ex -boyfriend, asked for it! Artem killed Tanya, and no one else. Artyom destroyed chaos in the healthcare system. He was not able to function in society without special support and sooner or later with a high probability would have died from his own hand. He was killed by officials from the Ministry of Health. Specialists who do not consider it necessary to evaluate the suicidal risk of such a patient. Psychiatrists running from the state health system created to destroy the professional dignity of a doctor. We killed him.

In Holland, where I now live and work, there are villages for people with mental disorders. Small houses for one or two people. Shops. Gym. Everything, as in a regular Dutch town, only social workers come there every day to help you take a house, go for a simple job, buy products and prepare dinner. This, of course, is not at all an ordinary life, but this is the experience close to ordinary life. It is expensive and completely pointless.

It is pointless to the first shot. The first blow with a knife. First dead body. It is pointless until the one who is especially vulnerable, a thin film between reality and vision will break.

Artem Iskhakov wrote to his psychiatrist shortly before murder and suicide, he did not answer him. Did not answer the suicidal patient with self -confusion. He had nowhere to go in a country where there is no system of support for people with such violations as he. He had nowhere to go, except for the next world, and he took the one he, as he thought, loved. Nothing romantic - mentally ill people fall in love. As they can.
