Journalists learned about the divorce of one of the members of the board of directors of Sibur Kirill Shamalov and Katerina Tikhonova, whom the domestic media call the daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is reported by Bloomberg .
The Western Agency in its material refers to the words of four informed sources who decided to talk with journalists on anonymity.
The publication notes that, despite the divorce, Shamalov can still fall under American sanctions against the Russian Federation, even given that he no longer has direct connections with the Kremlin.
The father of the ex-husband of the presidential daughter, Nikolai, was previously blacklisted with the European Union because of the situation in Ukraine. In the EU it was called part of the "influential group" around Putin.
"The son of Putin’s old friend returned to the work of the top manager in the petrochemical giant -" Sibure ", where his take -off and fall as a dollar billionaire coincided with his entry into the first Russian family," the agency notes.
Shamalov after the divorce forced to sell Sibura shares
In 2012, in the midst of preparation for the wedding with Tikhonova, Shamalov, by decision of Leonid Michelson and Gennady Timchenko, was appointed deputy general director of Sibura and received 4.3% of the holding.
Two years later, 32-year-old Shamalov, using a loan at Gazprombank, bought another 17% of shares from Timchenko for a total of about $ 2.2 billion.
In April last year, the Sibura leadership announced that Shamalov got rid of these shares. The agency emphasizes that Shamalov could not receive any income from securities, because he was entrusted only to keep these shares as a member of the Putin family.
After the divorce, Shamalov actually ceased to be part of the family of the head of state. That is why his privilege for ownership is over, the agency indicates with reference to three informed sources.
Sibur Holding is the largest petrochemical holding of Russia, which is engaged in the processing of associated oil gas, owns infrastructure for its processing and transportation, produces basic polymers, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.
In November 2015, Reuters reported that Kirill Shamalov since 2013 was married to the General Director of Innopractics and Vice -Rector of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosova Katerina Tikhonova, who is supposedly the daughter of President Putin.
Soon, Reuters published an investigation about Shamalov "Comradely Capitalism: a man married Putin's daughter and then got rich." According to the agency, in the next one and a half years after Shamalov’s marriage, the businessman’s condition began to grow rapidly - he acquired a share in Sibur, estimated at $ 2.85 billion.
Shamalov came to Sibur in 2008 after working in Gazprom, Rosoboronexport, Gazprombank and the government apparatus. He acquired the first 4.3% of the petrochemical company in 2011 - 2013 as part of the Optional Program for Sibura managers.
