An explosion occurred in a high -rise building in the center of Baku

The explosion thundered in the center of Baku in Azerbaijan near the Metro station "May 28", RIA Novosti reports with reference to eyewitnesses.

According to them, in a multi -storey residential building located on Dilyara Aliyeva Street, gas exploded. Closure of trading facilities nearby caused damage.

Some media reported two victims of the explosion, but the official authorities refuted this.

After the explosion in the station of stationery on the ground floor, a fire began.

Ruslan Aliyev’s deputy general director for Azerigaz later said that the cause of the incident, according to preliminary data, was a gas leak. Aliyev quotes the website Vesti.az : "Yesterday there was some excavations on the territory, and it is clearly felt that the KSK gas line was hurt."

It is reported that one person suffered as a result of the explosion.

The police and the Ministry of Emergencies work on the spot. Several quarters are blocked, including Azadlyg Avenue.
