Giving Council of the US gymnastics Federation will resign due to sexual rapist

The leading council of the US gymnastics Federation will resign against the backdrop of a loud scandal associated with harassment and sexual violence against athletes.

"The US gymnastics Federation will obey the requirements of the National Olympic Committee," said the representative of the federation of Leslie King, which is quoted by TASS.

Earlier, the US NOC threatened to dissolve the federation if its entire leading council, consisting of 21 people, will not resign to the next environment. Five members of the Council, including its chairman, have already left their posts.

The reason for this was the scandal that arose after the already former doctor of the US women's gymnastics team, Larry Nassar was accused of harassment and performing sexual actions against athletes, including several Olympic champions. In total, more than 150 women were accused of violence of Nassar.

On Wednesday, the court sentenced the ex-doctor to imprisonment for a period of 40 to 175 years for sexual violence against athletes. In November last year, he himself pleaded guilty of harassment against several minor girls. Knock announced that he would investigate all the circumstances of why Nassar managed to hide his atrocities for so long.

Earlier, Nassar was also sentenced to 60 years in prison for storing children's pornography. In 2016, law enforcement officers discovered a large archive of the corresponding materials on the hard drive of his computer.

Nassar in the period from 1996 to 2015 worked as a sports doctor at the University of Michigan, where the US National National Gymnastics team trained. He was also a physiotherapist of the American team at four Olympic Games and worked with young athletes for a long time. The scandal around Nassar caused the resignation of the former head of the US gymnastics Federation Steve Penny.
