1918 Battle of Kruty

One hundred years ago, on January 29, 1918, at the railway station near the village of Kruty, 130 km northeast of Kiev, a battle took place between a three thousandth detachment of Soviet troops under the command of Reinhold Berzin and a detachment of the army of the Ukrainian People's Republic, consisting of 250 officers and cadets. th Ukrainian military school, 118 Kiev students and high school students and 50 local volunteers.

Despite the overwhelming superiority of the enemy, the Ukrainian detachment held back his onslaught for several hours, and then retreated to Kyiv.
