In Tatarstan, the Investigative Committee closed the case of the former first deputy chairman of Tatfondbank, Ramil Nasyrov, who was accused under Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code (causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust), according to the website of the republican Investigative Committee.
Nasyrov petitioned for the termination of criminal prosecution due to “active repentance.” The court granted his petition due to the fact that the defendant fully admitted his involvement in the crime, gave evidence incriminating himself and other defendants, and the bulk of the investigative actions with Nasyrov were completed.
Earlier on January 20, the Privolzhsky District Court of Kazan changed the preventive measure for the former head of Tatfondbank Robert Musin and transferred him to house arrest. The former head of the bank was charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed on an especially large scale), Part 2 of Article 201 of the Criminal Code (abuse of power resulting in grave consequences), Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code (legalization of funds or other property acquired by a person as a result of committing a crime).
The damage from Musin’s actions, according to the investigation, exceeded 50 billion rubles. Musin confessed to crimes that caused damage to the bank, as well as the Central Bank, totaling 24.6 billion rubles.
In March 2017, the Bank of Russia revoked the license of TATFONDBANK. On March 4, the day after the license was revoked, Tatfondbank depositors tried to storm the Tatarstan government building. In April, the Arbitration Court of Tatarstan declared the bank bankrupt.
As part of the investigation into the case brought against Musin, the former general director of New Petrochemistry Ramil Safin, Nasyrov, as well as the head of Royal Time Group Elena Leushina were also detained. According to investigators, in August 2016, Tatfondbank employees, in order to obtain a loan, provided fictitious information to the Central Bank about the presence of a highly liquid asset. The bank received a loan of 3 billion rubles, which it then transferred to the current accounts of affiliated organizations.
